The dawn chorus - one day I'll get up at 4 a.m. and record it. Meanwhile here's a link to the excellent BBC birdsong site!

How the site used to be - photos from 1996.

The woodland, pond and green spaces make this conservation area a wonderful environment in which to live. And only 10 miles from Manchester! It's difficult for friends far-off to comprehend that this really is Manchester! Here's the proof - pictures and movies.

Here are 4 time-lapse movies of the changing seasons through 2005. I haven't got the photography part of it quite right but I'm working on it! The movies require Flash Player 6.

That quotation on the bench...

Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;

These 4 lines are from a poem by William Wordsworth called

INTIMATIONS OF IMMORTALITY FROM RECOLLECTIONS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD

And a slideshow from Flickr. The snow photos were taken by Tommy.
